June 2018 Update. Record Breaking Month & Happy Birthday Canada!

Hey Everyone, the year is officially half over!  I hope you are enjoying your summer. Let’s take a look at how my June was.

Personal Highlights for June:

  • We got the kids into a new daycare, which is 2 minutes from our house, on the way to and from work – with an awesome girl!  We are absolutely thrilled with how well it is going, she even sends us pictures, and text updates throughout the day – and the kids love it.
  • Had the cabin eaves troughs replaced and they look great. We also had a few thunderstorms last week so we got them done just in time.
  • Continued the “Better Know A Blogger” series on the blog and had my 2nd highest ever visitor traffic to the site
  • The World cup has started, and has been unbelievable so far (even though my team isn’t in it).  I have never seen so many upsets in my life.
  • Spent the Canada Day weekend out at the lake, and everyone had a great time(Dad & Mom spending some time with the little man at the beach)

We also started our vegetable garden in the city.  My brother in law was nice enough to build us three  5 x 5 raised beds for our back yard.  When we got back from the cabin on Monday we noticed a lot coming up already:vegetable garden dividend investing stocks

Financial Highlights for June:

  • XAW paid out it’s semi annual dividend of $0.242 per unit
  • Continued bi weekly payments into RRSPs & Spousal RSP.
  • Had my highest ever passive income month
  • Even with no new stock purchases, dripped 46 new shares/units.  I was paid from 8 companies and 2 funds in June
  • Amber finally enrolled in her Work RRSP program, which after 1 year will match her contributions up to 3%
  • Came OH SO CLOSE to cracking $1000 in passive income this month.

  2. I always enjoy seeing a dividend focused investor also share whats going on in their personal life. It really shows that you can grow an incredible long term strategy and live a great life. The garden looks sweet! By September it looks like you will edge over that $1000 mark which is a great accomplishment. I see NVU on your watch list which I personally just added too. All the best Jordan, look forward to your next months post!

  3. Awesome results, Jordan! Congrats on the $972.17 and amazing growth rate over last year! I also own some Artis reit. My position is still small but I plan to increase it. It sounds like you’re having a great summer. By the way, I think that photo is awesome! No need for a professional photographer. Keep it up man!

  4. Inching towards the illustrious $1000,-. It will be a big party when crossing it no doubt. Keep enjoying life now my friend, it just doesn’t make sense to live a craplife now so you can reap benefits in 10-20 years. All the best!

  5. What a month Jordan! Congratulations on a new record and receiving a crazy amount of dividend income! I’m also excited for you about your other updates. A daycare that is just two minutes away from your house? How sweet is that? And those pictures of the raised beds and lake over the weekend look great. Seems like you had a great month.

  6. Hey Bert (I picture Ernie from sesame street saying that in his voice as I type that)

Last month was great – both personally and financially. Garden is coming in great, and the kids are enjoying the summer so far. Hope you are too!
    Best of luck next month

    • Thanks, Engineering. Although I expect the portfolio to come crashing down in the next year or so…as long as the dividends keep coming in, i’ll be happy. Still got a ways to go until retirement, so have to expect at least 1 more crash…Trump is probably just helping to speed that inevitable crash up…haha

    • Thanks Gen Y
This was my first payout from XAW, definitley a nice little bonus. It only pays in June & December…so the rest of the year is meh…but a nice bonus in those 2 months for sure.
