Welcome to Volume 6 of “Better Know A Blogger”!

Meet GYM. Although she is a little secretive with her personal details, we do know that she is in her 30’s, lives in Vancouver, recently become a Mom and had originally started one of the most popular personal finance websites on the internet (which she later sold, and started her new site).  Keep reading to find out a bit more about her..

Where do you live: Vancouver BC

Tell me something awesome about your city:  It is beautiful in June, July, August, September (and this year, May).  Othertimes it’s called Raincouver for a good reason.

What do you do for a living:  I’d rather not say 🙂  Right now I’m an parental leave so I am living as a mom.

Are you married: Yes

Do you have any Kids? Pets:  One kid, One dog.

Why do you invest/What is your ultimate financial goal:I would like to have at least $35,000 to $50,000 in passive dividend income annually.

When did you start investing: At age 20 but I didn’t know what the heck I was doing.
How long until you will be financially free (won’t NEED to work)Probably 5-10 more years.
What will you do in retirement: Spend time with family and my kid(s), travel (go to Provence and frolic in the lavender fields, go to Santorini in Greece, go to Maldives), take care of aging parents, learn how to play the ukulele or guitar.
Do you share your holdings/portfolio?If so – What is your current portfolio value: Yes I do. It’s in the mid 200’s.
Do you share your net worth? If so what is your current net worth:  Yes I do.  It’s in the 700’s.
Do you invest in funds or individual stocks & why:Both!  I like to keep it regular and straight forward but also like to satisfy the mild-speculator in me.
If I gave you $10,000 right now to invest in 1 stock – what would you pick & why: I have recently bought MO (Altria) and POW (Power Financial Corporation)*
*Editors Note* I also recently purchased POW!
What was your biggest financial fuck up: Hmm.. selling Visa at $88 when I bought close to IPO for $64.

Is there a God:  I don’t know
When you die, what is 1 thing you hope people think of/remember you for:  Being kind hearted and a good person and leaving this world in a better place
Do you vote? Who did you last vote for:  WHOA this is personal!! hahah.. No politic talk remember?  Jk jk
What do you think the next big technological advance will be:  I’m not sure, but the world is advancing in technology in leaps and bounds!
What is the single biggest threat to humanity:   Eachother unfortunately.

Favorite Movie: I liked This if 40 and I also like Babel and Crash.  I can’t pick just one or maybe I don’t have much of an opinion, haha 🙂

Favorite Sports Team: I don’t have one, but my husband loves the Capitals (like LOVES them).

Does your spouse/partner read your blog: Yes, sometimes.

Best restaurant in your city: Bridges on Granville Island when they used to have the oyster burger.

How often do you check your portfolio(be honest):  At least once or twice a month

How often do you check your website stats (be honest)At least daily(understatement).  Unfortunately it’s on my phone so it’s easy to refresh.

**Bonus question submitted by my wife (I asked her what ONE question I should ask):

What do you put on your hotdogThey have a Japadog here that is delicious and put seaweed and mayo and all sorts of good stuff.  I would put onions (sauteed and caramelised), ketchup, a bit of mustard, and mayonnaise.
